All workshops will be at the Quail's Nest Arts Centre, 5840 Airport Street, Oliver BC. You'll be in the smaller Studio building at the back of the property, behind the main sign on the street. The Arts Centre has washrooms and a kitchen, so you can bring a lunch, snacks and drinks, and keep them refrigerated. There is a kettle and a selection of teas. Coffee is also available. There is no air conditioning, so dress accordingly.

Zen Doodle Workshop Tuesday, August 19, 10 am 2-3 hours
JoAnn Turner Create fun drawings using ordinary pen, markers, or technical pens. Zen doodling can be a relaxing hobby, or a creative artistic medium. Patterns are built up using simple repetitive techniques that create texture and interest. You'll learn tips and tricks to make your doodles works of art. All levels of artistic ability welcome. Suitable for age 13 and up. Workshop fee $30 All materials provided. If you have Pigma Micron pens, please bring them. A few small sets will be available to buy. Needle Felted Garden Fairy Dolls Wed., August 21, 10 am 4 hours Terry Irvine Sculpt a garden fairy using felting needles and a rainbow of wool roving. Embellish with exotic fibres: silk, mohair, alpaca, vegan-banana and more. What form will your fairy take? Animal, human, or ? Give your imagination permission to roam. I encourage you to bring a pictures to work from and your own embellishments, beads, etc to add a personal touch to your fairy. Suitable for age 11 & up. No experience necessary. Workshop fee $50 includes all materials. Includes a felting needle to take home. Additional fibres will be available for purchase. Elastic Bracelets with Natural Beads Thurs., August 22, 10 am 2-3 hours JoAnn Turner Make two bracelets strung on elastic using beads made from semi-precious gems, horn, bone, antler, glass and other materials. There will be a range of beads for you to chose from, in a wide range of colours, sizes and styles. Suitable for age 16 and older. Workshop Fee: $50 includes all materials Students can make additional bracelets for $12 each, the cost of the materials. Flower Impasto Acrylic Painting Tuesday, August 20, 6 pm. 2-3 hours Marion Trimble Impasto creates beautiful texture in your painting. Impasto medium is mixed with acrylic paint and applied thickly to the canvas, then layers are built up and sometimes cut away to create texture. We will do a step by step process that is easy for all levels of artists. At the end of the evening, you will take home a flower painting you’ll be proud to hang in your home.
